City: Individual allegedly attempts to buy items with fake money

An individual was recently arrested following multiple attempts to allegedly buy items with fake money, according to a report.

The City of Cortland Police report stated that on three separate occasions, Curtis I. Lunsford, 32, of Cortland, arranged to purchase electronics from people through internet accounts.

According to the report, Lunsford allegedly utilized fake money to purchase the electronics. The report noted that the incidents occurred between Jan. 13-14 and Feb. 4 of this year during various afternoon hours on Main Street.

Lunsford was arrested on Friday (Feb. 9) and charged with three counts of first-degree possession of a forged instrument (a Class-C Felony), three counts of petit larceny (Class-A Misdemeanors) and second-degree scheme to defraud (a Class-A Misdemeanor).

Lunsford was processed, arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail. He is due to appear in Cortland city court on Wednesday.
