The Homer Fire Department had a busy weekend of calls.

On Saturday (Feb. 17), Homer firefighters responded to a car accident on Route 41A. No injuries were reported, and local law enforcement assisted with traffic control.

Also on Saturday at about 10:30 p.m., Homer firefighters dispatched to a reported chimney fire. Crews confirmed that the fire was contained to the chimney. Firefighters cleared out the remaining debris from the roof, and confirmed there was no extension of the fire to the structure.

A few hours later at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Homer’s department was requested for mutual aid to Preble for a car accident. Homer firefighters responded with manpower and rescue equipment to assist the Preble and Tully fire departments with extrication of the patient.

Crews from Homer were requested for mutual aid to a reported mulch fire at a wood processing facility. Preble’s firefighters, however, brought the fire under control.
