Unsettled weather will return to the area today with a few chances for light precipitation.

This morning, some light, scattered spits of precipitation will be possible. With temperatures below freezing, these will start as snow, sleet, or perhaps a little freezing rain.

However, south winds will help temperatures rise, and before the end of the morning, any lingering precipitation should become just plain rain.

Temperatures will peak near or just above 40 degrees this afternoon. South winds will blow at speeds of 5-10 mph.

More widespread precipitation will move in during the mid to late afternoon hours. This will fall as rain at least through sunset.

The bulk of the precipitation may move east after that, but lingering showers will be possible through the night. These will eventually turn back to a wintry mix of rain, snow, and sleet as temperatures fall into the mid 30s.

None of the wintry precipitation, this morning or tonight, will be substantial enough to cause major travel delays. Still, a few untreated surfaces may become a bit slick.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: More clouds than sun. Maybe a few early spits of rain and snow. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Saturday: Clouds, some breaks of sun, and a few snow showers in the morning. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 20s.

Sunday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Monday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
