The Cortland school and community faithful gathered on Thursday to send off two Purple Tiger wrestlers to the New York state tournament.

Seniors Avery Canzano and Wyatt Tinker, respectively competing at 190 and 160 pounds, are set to compete in the New York State Division-II wrestling tournament this weekend in Albany.

Canzano, sporting a 38-1 record, is the 8th seed in the 190-pound bracket. He will face 9th-seeded Jayden Malecki of Chautauqua Lake (Section VI) in the second round on Friday. Malecki currently has a 43-9 record.

Tinker, heading into the tourney with a 25-8 mark, is the 19th seed in the 160-pound bracket. He will go up against Anthony Bell of John Glenn (Section XI). Bell has a 24-11 record.

Canzano and Tinker qualified for the state tournament through the Section III tournament a couple of weeks ago. Canzano was the runner-up in the 190-pound bracket, and Tinker came in third at 160 pounds.
