Marathon Olympians upset Bainbridge-Guilford in first round of sectionals

The No.10 seeded Marathon Olympians upset No.7 seed Bainbridge-Guilford in the first round of the Section IV Class C tournament, as the Olympians won the game with a score of 53-49. The game was played at Bainbridge-Guilford high school Wednesday evening. 

After being down 22-14 at halftime, Marathon came back to outscore Bainbridge-Guilford 39-27 in the second half to win the game. 

Marathon was led by Jacob Byron (18 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist & 2 steals), Colton Oram (9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists & 3 steals), Camdyn Kashuba (9 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists & 2 steals), Zachary Birdsall (8 points, 7 rebounds & 3 assists), Blake Birdsall (5 points, 3 rebounds & 1 steal), and Austin Poth (4 points & 4 rebounds). 

Bainbridge-Guilford was led by James Hogroian (20 points), Michael Lipani (9 points), Isaiah Hampton (8 points), Arien Sherman (7 points), and Timothy Kinter (5 points).

The Olympians will play in the quarterfinal round of the sectional tournament against No.2 seed Elmira Notre Dame this Saturday (February 24th) at Elmira Notre Dame high school at 6pm (Note: time of the game is subject to change).
