Most of today will be quiet as the region resides between low pressure to our east and an incoming cold front that will not arrive until late.

Clouds and some rain and snow associated with the departing low will pull out of the area early this morning. Once the precipitation ends, it will remain cloudy for several hours.

Gradually, though, the sun will start to break through the clouds. It will probably not become fully sunny, but there may be periods where the sunshine outweighs the cloud cover.

Winds will be light from the southwest until turning to the northwest late in the afternoon.

Along this wind shift, some scattered showers may pop up during the mid to late afternoon. These will eventually turn over to a few flurries as the sun sets and colder air starts to build in.

Before this happens, temperatures will top out in the mid 40s.

Evening temperature will quickly fall through the 30s and into the 20s. Some limited lake effect snow may develop and pass through but should not last long. No more than a coating of accumulation is expected.

Winds will turn to the north overnight and increase with speeds around 10 mph and gusts of 25-30 mph. The wind will continue to drive temperatures down, and by Saturday morning, lows will end up in the low 10s with wind chills around 0.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Some early clouds, but otherwise lots of sun. Cold and a bit breezy. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs around 20.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Monday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds with some late showers possible. Becoming breezy and warm. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
