Temperatures will continue to rise today with sunshine and a light southerly flow.

Skies will be sunny with some occasional clouds here and there. The best chance for cloudy skies will come later in the afternoon as an area of scattered showers moves through.

Not all areas will see this rain, and those that do should only see brief periods of showers. A couple rumbles of thunder cannot be totally ruled out.

Patches of clouds and a few occasional showers will continue through the evening and overnight.

Winds will be from the south at around 5 mph during the daytime hours. These winds will pick up during the evening, with speeds around 10 mph.

The wind will help import more warm air into the region. Daytime highs should reach the upper 50s, even in the higher elevations. A few warmer pockets could hit 60 degrees.

Tonight, temperatures will slowly drop through the 50s for an overnight low just under 50 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Scattered showers, followed by a band of rain, wind, and possibly thunder. Blustery winds, especially late. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees but turning sharply colder with snow showers in the evening.

Thursday: Breezy and colder with lake effect snow showers. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a shower. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs near 50.
