City: Individual allegedly holds gun to victim’s head

An individual was recently arrested after allegedly holding a gun to a victim’s head, according to a report.

The City of Cortland Police report stated that on Feb. 24, officers responded to a residence on Groton Avenue for a weapons complaint.

According to the report, a 33-year old female victim stated that Artis Young, 32, of Cortland, allegedly threatened her, slammed her on the ground and held a handgun to her head.

Young fled the scene before police arrived. He was located and arrested at the Byrne Dairy store on Port Watson Street on March 5.

Young was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a Class-D Felony) and second-degree menacing (a Class-A Misdemeanor). He was arraigned and sent to Cortland County jail while he awaits a court appearance at a later time.
