Cool air will filter into the area today on west-northwest winds.

The wind will be steady with speeds over 10 mph at times. But gusts will be near 30 mph.

The cool winds will help keep skies mostly cloudy. The best chance for any sunshine will come early this morning.

A few stray snow showers will be possible, but with this wind direction, the already limited lake effect will primarily remain far to the north off Lake Ontario or far to the west off Lake Erie.

Snow showers will increase later in the afternoon and for the evening and overnight as winds turn more towards the northwest.

Snow accumulations should be limited to a light coating to as much as a half-inch in localized areas.

Afternoon high temperatures will be in the mid and upper 30s. Evening temperatures will back through the 30s and into the 20s with an overnight low in the mid 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Cloudy with snow showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Wednesday: Breezy with snow showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a few more snow showers. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs near 30.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.
