Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (March 26th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. Fulton

The Homer Trojans won their first regular season game of the season against Fulton Tuesday night. Homer won the game with a score of 11-5. 

Homer was led by Daniel Stiles (4 goals & 1 assist), Alexander Votra (1 goal & 1 assist), Christopher Slade (1 goal & 1 assist), Gabriel O'Connor (1 goal & 1 assist), Wyatt Wilbur (1 goal & 1 assist), Mason Potter (1 goal), Jack Brady (1 goal), Cooper Swartz (1 goal), and Benjamin Bradshaw (13 saves). 

Fulton was led by Landon Wakefield (2 goals & 1 assist), Xavier Doty (2 goals), Aidan Halladay (1 goal), and Tyler Bryant (12 saves). 

Up next, the 1-0 Trojans will play on the road against Whitney Point on Thursday (March 28th) at 5pm.

The Cortland Purple Tigers started their season off with a 9-5 loss at home against Whitney Point on Tuesday. 

Cortland was led by Joseph Banewicz (3 goals & 1 assist), Bodey McGrath (2 goals & 1 assist), Luke Kesler (1 assist), and Declan Vail  (9 saves).

Cortland’s next game will be played against Binghamton at Cortland junior-senior high school this Thursday (March 28th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Cortland vs. Jordan-Elbridge

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost to Jordan Elbridge with a score of 14-12 at Cortland junior-senior high school Tuesday evening. This was Corrtland’s first game of the regular season. 

Cortland was led by Aubree Larkin (5 goals & 2 assists), Valerosa Gambitta (4 goals), Lily Yang (1 goal), Gabriella Brown (1 goal), Nora Gross (1 goal), and Elizabeth Slavick (5 saves). 

Jordan-Elbridge was led by Makayla Penird (4 goals & 1 assist), Briella Gilfus (3 goals), Kelsey Brunelle (3 goals), Stella Opanhoske (2 goals), Marcelline Titus (1 goal), Charlotte Hsiao (1 goal), and Ryleigh Gill  (5 saves). 

Cortland is now scheduled to host New Hartford at Cortland junior-senior high school on Tuesday (April 2nd) at 5:30pm.
