Marathon Softball Tournament: Marathon, Cincinnatus & Bainbridge-Guilford Results (photos included)

The Marathon Lady Olympians hosted the Marathon Softball Tournament at Appleby Elementary School on Saturday (April 20th). Marathon, Cincinnatus & Bainbridge-Guilford participated in the tournament. 

According to Marathon head coach Jamie Bush, Cortland was supposed to take part in the tournament as well, but dropped out. 

Bainbridge-Guilford ended up winning the tournament after going 2-0, beating both Marathon and Cincinnatus. 

Cincinnatus went 1-1, while Marathon went 0-2 in the tournament. 

Here are the results from each game: 

Marathon vs. Cincinnatus

Marathon and Cincinnatus played in the first game of the tournament. Cincinnatus won the game with a score of 11-2. 

Cincinnatus was led by Lucy Finch (3 runs, 3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Payton Gerrard (3 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Linette Custer (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Addison Stith (2 runs & 1 hit), Kaylee Brenchley (1 hit, 1 RBI & 2 strikeouts thrown), Hannah Ellerson (1 hit & 1 RBI), Neveah Billings (1 run & 2 strikeouts thrown), and Lydia Schutt (1 run).

Marathon’s runs were scored by Izabella Conklin (1 run) and Cassandra Forrest (1 run). 

Marathon vs. Bainbridge-Guilford

According to Marathon head coach Jamie Bush, Bainbridge-Guilford defeated Marathon with a score of 10-1.

Cincinnatus vs. Bainbridge-Guilford

Bainbridge-Guilford defeated Cincinnatus with a score of 7-5 in order to win the Marathon tournament. 

Bainbridge-Guilford was led by Gabriella Cuozzo (1 run, 1 hit, 2 RBI’s & 7 strikeouts thrown), Danica Park (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Alessandra Cafasso (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Breanna Casey (1 run & 1 hit), Kaylin Furgason (1 run & 1 RBI), Brenna George (1 run), Jayslin Henderson (1 run), and Victoria Suda (1 RBI). 

Cincinnatus was led by Payton Gerrard (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s & 1 strikeout thrown), Addison Stith (1 run & 1 hit), Lydia Schutt (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Neveah Billings (1 run & 1 hit), Rachael Standish (1 run & 1 hit), Kaylee Brenchley (1 hit & 1 RBI), and Lucy Finch (2 hits). 

With Saturday’s results, Cincinnatus now holds a 5-2 record, Marathon has fallen to a record of 2-5, and Bainbridge-Guilford stays unbeaten with a 6-0 record. 

Up next for Cortland County teams, Marathon is scheduled to host Newark Valley at Marathon Appleby Elementary school today (April 22nd) at 4:30pm; while Cincinnatus’ next game will be played against McGraw at Cincinnatus high school on Monday (April 29th) at 4:30pm.
