Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (April 27th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Saturday’s events:

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost 16-0 against Jordan-Elbridge on the road this past Saturday. With this loss, Cortland has fallen to an overall record of 3-4. 

Cortland was led by Sophie Mayer (1 hit), Gracie-Jo Homza (1 hit), and Brenna Hogan (5 strikeouts thrown). 

Jordan Elbridge was led by Abby Delfavero (3 runs, 2 hits, 3 RBI’s & 8 strikeouts thrown), Ava Hildebrant (3 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Erin LaVancha (2 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Riley Hill (1 run, 2 hits & 3 RBI’s), Heather Sorts (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Cameron Fraher (1 run, 3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Abbie Ahern (2 runs & 2 hits), Brooke Chiaramonte (1 run & 1 hit), and Isabella Jay (1 run).

Cortland is now scheduled to play against Mexico on the road this Tuesday (April 30th) at 5pm.

Varsity Softball: Homer vs. Solvay

The Homer Lady Trojans have fallen to an overall record of 0-8 after losing on the road against Solvay with a score of 22-5. 

Homer was led by Allyson Verfuss (1 run, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Emily Petrella (1 run, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Khloie Young (1 run & 2 hits), Alisa Gonzalez (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Samantha Sovocool (1 RBI), and MyaLynne Riccardi (1 run & 2 strikeouts thrown). 

Solvay was led by Jenna Wing (3 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Gianna D'Eredita (3 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Ariana Ortiz (4 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Sylvia Sgroi-Whalen (2 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Rachel Willsey (3 runs), Annabelle Stewart (5 RBI’s & 9 strikeouts thrown), Riley Gosha (1 hit & 1 RBI), Delaney Kaszubinski (2 RBI’s), Alivia Orr (2 runs), Jazmyne Darling (2 runs), and Amya Richardson (3 runs).

According to Homer’s athletic website, Homer will host Jordan-Elbridge today (April 29th) at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex at 5pm. 

Varsity Softball: Marathon vs. Union Springs

The Marathon softball team lost to Union Springs with a score of 12-0 on Saturday. 

With this loss, Marathon has fallen to an overall record of 3-9. 

Marathon will be taking on Southern Cayuga at Marathon’s Appleby Elementary today (April 29th) at 4:30pm.
