A soggy Sunday is ahead for Cortland County as a frontal boundary slowly moves through the area.

Rain will be widespread through the morning hours and into the early afternoon. There may be a few breaks in the rain here and there, but all in all it will be raining much of the time.

As the afternoon goes on, the rain should become more showery and should eventually end by the late afternoon. A few spits of showers will remain possible into the early evening, but these will be few and far between.

Skies will be cloudy into the evening and overnight and a few areas of fog may try to develop as well. A few more showers will be possible towards dawn Monday.

Temperatures will be held down by the rainfall. Some parts of the county may have a hard time getting above 55 degrees, but most areas should make it into the upper 50s.

A steady south wind will blow throughout the day with speeds over 10 mph at times. Top gusts will be around 30 mph, except in the northern hilltops, where gusts to 35 mph will be possible.

South winds will continue through the night, holding temperatures mainly in the low and mid 50s overnight. There may even be a rise of a couple degrees during the predawn hours.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: A few early showers. Increasing afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Tuesday: Sunny with a few thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Wednesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in the morning and midday. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Thursday: Afternoon showers, perhaps some thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
