Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, May 6, 2024:

A weak area of high pressure will build into the area today resulting in quiet weather conditions.

The morning will start out with clouds, but sunshine will be trying hard to break up the overcast. This will result in variable skies through the mid and late morning hours, but an overall increase in sunshine.

During the afternoon, some thin clouds may push back into the area for a time before skies clear out. Mostly clear skies are then expected for the evening and overnight hours.

No rain will fall today.

Winds will be from the northwest. Wind speeds will be light, coming in at around 5 mph. Top gusts on the day will be under 20 mph.

Afternoon highs will reach the upper 60s for most of the county. A few hilltops may stick to the mid 60s, while the far southeastern corner of the county may make a run at 70 degrees.

Tonight, temperatures will quickly fall through the 60s and 50s. By midnight, it may be in the mid 40s with an overnight low approaching, but not quite reaching 40 degrees.

Tuesday: Sunny with a few thin clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Wednesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in the predawn and early morning. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Friday: Cloudy with showers. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
