Phase II work on the second set of turf fields at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex has been delayed to late October.

The change in the contract was announced at Wednesday’s Cortlandville Town Board meeting.

“All (it is) is moving the future date for construction from September to the end of October,” said Cortlandville Town Supervisor Tom Williams. “Everyone is in agreement.”

A construction date initially set for Sept. 30 was pushed to Oct. 23 in order for Smith Site Development LLC to have “base stone and related items” ready in preparation of the synthetic turf installation, according to documents on the town’s website.

“The only thing left to do after that — other than minor things — is install the turf,” Williams said. “The turf company said they don’t want to start until Oct. 24, so it all works out.”

Phase II of the sports complex is still in line to be completed by spring of next year.
