The Cincinnati Bengals have promoted Cortland native Dan Pitcher to a new position, according to reports.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Pitcher will become Cincinnati's next offensive coordinator after former OC Brian Callahan left the position to become the Tennessee Titan’s next head coach.

Pitcher, a SUNY Cortland alumnus, has been with the Bengals organization since 2016. He was an offensive assistant under former head coach Marvin Lewis, then became an assistant quarterbacks coach when current HC Zac Taylor was hired in 2019. Pitcher moved up to the lead quarterbacks coach position in 2020.

Since 2020, Pitcher has worked closely with Bengals’ star QB Joe Burrow. In that span of time, Pitcher, Burrow and the Bengals made a trip to Super Bowl LVI and appeared in back-to-back AFC Championship games.

Cincinnati finished with a 9-8 record and last place in the AFC North Division in 2023. Burrow went down with a torn ligament in his right wrist towards the middle of the season, and underwent surgery in November. Pitcher aided backup QB Jake Browning’s efforts in leading the Bengals to the playoffs, but the team fell short in the final weeks of the season.

Pitcher was a star QB for Cortland High School’s football team. Following a brief stint with Colgate University, Pitcher joined the football team at SUNY Cortland in 2008.

Pitcher first entered the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts. He was the Colts’ scouting assistant and pro scout from 2012 to 2015.
